Islamabad, Pakistan – 26/04/2018 – Step Robotics, a leading global technology provider for the solar energy generation market, is pleased to announce that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCASE-E) at NUST to jointly conduct energy specific applied projects involving faculty and students.
The MoU will lead to a possible collaboration in the areas of energy audit, energy management and energy conservation as well as research into the solar energy field leading ultimately to solar system design, site analysis measurement, shading measurement, proposal development including costing and profitability analysis.
Step Robotics will assist USPCASE-E in professional certification courses in the Renewable Energy field and accommodate USPCASE-E students for an internship of about 6-8 weeks.
The engineers, students and faculty will also participate in technical seminars arranged by USPCASE-E and Step Robotics. The USPCASE-E will offer their available testing facilities and unclassified theoretical data and library facilities to researchers and engineers of Step Robotics working on the collaboration projects as per policy.
“A collaboration with USPCASE-E will bridge the gap between academia and the industry,” said Step Robotics President Junaid Qazi. “Step Robotics will help the students and faculty understand the practical issues faced by the solar industry.”
“We are grateful for this collaboration as it is an opportunity for both the faculty and the students to get more exposure to the business world,” said Dr. Zuhair S. Khan, Principal USPCASE-E at NUST. He added that “the opportunity will help the students attune themselves to the clean energy generation market.”
Step Robotics is known in the solar market for its fully integrated hardware and software platform called Step Solar, which is presently the most powerful solar shading and site analysis tool in the market. Through its proprietary lens and a free app, Step Solar can transform most smart phones and handheld devices into a fully integrated, intelligent design-to-procurement solutions.

About USPCAS-E:
USPCAS-E was formed after the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), a leading research-intensive university of Pakistan, entered into a Cooperative Agreement with USAID to establish US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E). The agreement was an effort to address some of the outstanding challenges faced by the energy sector in Pakistan and to facilitate applied research and education partnership between USA and Pakistan. Part of USPCAS-E agenda focuses on the areas of research & policy development in renewable energy & emerging technologies; thermal engineering leading to energy security utilizing indigenous resources; promotion of technologies & practices that increase energy efficiency in all sectors and technology innovation and entrepreneurship in energy and supporting technologies, materials and services.
